The Futuro Media Group (FMG) seeks a highly organized and self-motivated graduate student or young professional to join its dynamic Development team as a Development Intern. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator (both spoken and written), and have strong organizational and strategic thinking skills. The internship spans a range of responsibilities in the Development department, with a primary focus on providing data, administrative, and research support to the entire FMG Development Department. Please note that this is not a journalism internship.

Main internship tasks and opportunities:

  • Assist in general donor stewardship
  • Communicate with current and prospective donors
  • Help maintain and update donor databases
  • Assist Development staff in organizing day-to-day communications with individual and company donors
  • Assist Development staff in drafting fundraising emails
  • Assist Development staff in event planning and coordination
  • Research projects, prospects, and initiatives for the Development team
  • Draft profiles of prospective donors for Development team
  • Assist with the writing, editing and formatting of grant proposals, final reports, and other related marketing/development copy for strategic donor communications, as assigned
  • Perform general administrative duties as determined by the Development team, including general filing and data entry
  • Remain up-to-date with current  philanthropic news and developments

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Interest in business development, nonprofit management, and independent journalism
  • An attention to detail and an eagerness to learn
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with research a plus
  • Experience working with databases, especially Raiser’s Edge NXT, a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Office Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.)
  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive issues and information
  • Ability to work independently while also fitting into a small, focused team
  • Receptive to constructive criticism and feedback intended to help you grow
  • An understanding of Futuro Media Group’s media properties and an interest in its mission
