Futuro Media’s CEO and Executive Director Erika Dilday: Journalists Can Help People Tell Their Own Stories by Talking Less, Listening More

Latino USA is produced out of our Harlem office by The Futuro Media Group—an independent non-profit media organization that explores and gives voice to the diversity of the American experience. Latino USA is a weekly hour-long radio magazine show hosted by Maria Hinojosa. The show airs in over 220 public radio stations nationwide with a podcast that surpassed 3.3M downloads in 2018.
We want self-starters to help in the production of the show covering everything from news to cultural trends affecting Latinos in the U.S. The staff is small, so there is a lot of room to do meaningful work.
This is an unpaid internship, but we do provide a stipend of $1500 for the term. We encourage students to apply for school credit. Interns are invited to work 2-3 days per week for 10-12 weeks. We expect the Spring 2020 term to be entirely remote.
Latino USA accepts interns for the Spring, Summer and Fall terms.
In order to apply please submit your applications by the following dates:
Spring (mid-January through mid-May) – Apply by November 15
Summer (June through August) – Apply by April 15
Fall (mid-September through mid-December) – Apply by August 1
Send cover letter outlining how your interests, skills and experiences line up with what Latino USA does. Please also email a one-page resume and at least one audio sample of your work that shows off your mastery of style and content. Please submit as links or mp3s.
