Futuro Media’s CEO and Executive Director Erika Dilday: Journalists Can Help People Tell Their Own Stories by Talking Less, Listening More
September 16, 2020 / Nieman Reports
Futuro Media Group seeks a highly experienced Senior Podcast Producer to join our team in creating a multimedia project for our special productions department, Futuro Unidad Hinojosa. This is a grant supported contract position that is estimated to begin mid-December and end by June or July of 2021.
We are looking for someone with senior-level podcast series producing experience to help shape and drive our storytelling towards a deeper understanding of race, culture, solidarity and equity. Someone with strong editorial judgment, a passion for storytelling about issues of racial equity, ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment, and experience producing narrative audio journalism as well as engaging fictional storytelling.
The Senior Podcast Producer will play a vital role in the evolution of a highly creative podcast series while supervising and driving its narrative, operations, and production staffing. You will oversee/ensure execution and delivery of episodes, work closely with the project’s senior staff to craft the editorial arc of each episode, and direct junior producers in the sound gathering, script writing and tape editing needed to produce each episode. Thus, strong journalistic and audio storytelling skills, clear leadership, communication and organizational skills will be necessary to oversee this series that we hope will engage audiences in the issues of racial inequity in our communities during this critical time.
Essentially, this role will serve as a leading editorial voice for the podcast portion of our multimedia project along with digital and video teams. The Senior Podcast Producer will be able to develop and shape a concept into a compelling and nuanced story alongside the full editorial team and craft both larger narratives arcs of the project in total and to drive the creation of a truly dynamic and innovative podcast series.
As we are a small shop, we are looking for a true team leader and player—somebody who is capable of creative and critical thinking, have the ability to see the “big picture” when planning, as well as someone who can roll up their sleeves and do all types of podcast production-related tasks and working in conjunction with the project’s other teams, outside vendors, and partners.
The Senior Podcast Producer for this special project will report to the Senior Supervising Producer and Executive Producers.
How To Apply
The start date for the position will be December 16. Interested candidates should send a resume and cover letter to UH_Contractors@futuromediagroup.org by December 13th.
