Watch Futuro Media founder and Latino USA Host/Executive Producer Maria Hinojosa on Democracy Now!, where she talks about her continued reporting on the decades-long problems at the U.S. border, specifically the racial and political dynamics of U.S. policy when it comes to asylum seekers.

“This country, the United States, has a narrative that it lives by that says we are an immigrant-loving country and that we love and accept refugees. And what we are saying, journalists, activists on the ground, is that that narrative is not true. And what we are seeing, in fact, white supremacy, in the context of refugees and desperate people.”

More recently, Hinojosa traveled to the Darién jungle to further examine this on Latino USA’s “The Moving Border: Even Further South,” which is part three of “The Moving Border” series.
